Cross Borough Seven A Side Tournament

Final - Friday 16th June 2006

(see photos of the Final)

fter a lot of hard work put in by the organisers to get the First Cross Borough Tournament up and running, the day for the final eventually came.

St John the Baptist (Hackney) met up with Broadwater (Haringey) at Middleton House, Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground.

This time the weather did not disappoint with lovely sunny blues skies and temperatures to match.

Broadwater scored not long after kick off with St John the Baptist equalizing soon after. Then both teams battled hard to score again, with opportunities on both sides, but with neither one giving in, even after extra time. Once again the game went to the dreaded penalty shoot out, with the Hackney team coming out victorious.

The game was cheered on throughout by parents, coaching staff and children, all who enjoyed themselves immensely.

Richard Allen, Head of Youth Development at Tottenham Hotspurs handed out The Cross Borough Shield to the winning team and the Man of The Match Award that went to St John the Baptist’s goalkeeper Harry Nash.

Leslie Fevrier of The Academy of Sport East London thanked everybody for their support and for coming along and making a great day.

The Academy of Sport East London would once again like to thank their sponsors all the schools that took part in making our first year such a success.

Now on to next year which will be bigger & better.
